1- Merhaba Demolition Man, öncelikle bizi kırmadığın için çok teşekkürler. Venom Inc. olarak geri dönüşünüz bizlerde büyük heyecan yarattı ve muhteşem albümünüz ”Avé’” ile aklımızı başımızdan aldınız. Venom Inc için her şey nasıl gidiyor?
-Merhaba… ah TEŞEKKÜRLER!!! Bu röportajı yapmak büyük bir onur. Çok teşekkür ederim. Albümümüz ile çok gurur duyuyoruz ve gelen yorumlara çok minnettarız. Her şey şu anda eskisinden de mükemmel ilerliyor.
2-Avé herkesten tarafından çok sevildi ve bu albümün etkisi hala devam ediyor. En son War isimli çalışmanızı yayımladınız. Genel olarak albüm hakkında ne düşünüyorsunuz?
-Aslında albüm yapmak istemedim. Aslında geçmişte yaptığımız etkileyici şarkıları toparlayıp hayranlarımız için yalnızca canlı performans olarak sunmayı düşündüm! Ben ve Mantas M:Pire of Evil için çok başarılı bir şekilde çalışıyorduk. Tüm dünyada konserler verip albümlerimizi kendimiz kontrol ediyorduk. Bir M:Pire konseri için Venom’un orijinal bateristini konuk sanatçı olarak çağırmayı teklif ettiğimde Mantas buna karşı çıktı ama sadece hayranlar için tek bir gösteri olacağını söylediğimde kabul etti. Venom bateristi o zamanlar çağrı merkezinde çalıştığı ve müzikal anlamda bir çalışmada bulunmadığı için bu fırsatı hemen kabul etti.
Ancak festivalden sonra (yalnızca 5 parça çalmıştık) hayranlarımızın bizi dünyanın her yerinde birlikte çalmamızı istediklerini fark ettim. Sonra menajerim, harika yönetimiyle Jon & Marsha Zazula (Megaforce, Metallica, Anthrax vs.) ve Chuck Billy (Testament) ile anlaştık. Mantas logoyu tekrar hazırlayarak bizi VENOM INC (birleşmiş) IRON & Steel olarak tanıttı. Ancak kısa süre sonra herkes (hayranlar, ajanslar vs.) Iron & Steel kısmını görmezden geldi ve kısaca Venom Inc olarak bilinmeye başladık. Venom Inc de logoyu şirket logosu olarak kaydettirdiğimiz Venom Inc Ltd. haline geldi. Bu yatırımımızı korumak içindi.
3- Avé sonrası dünyanın birçok ülkesinde konserler verdiniz ve büyük bir turneye çıktınız. Genel anlamda bu konserler nasıl geçiyor ve yıllar sonra yeniden sevenlerinize sahneden sesleniyorsunuz, bu konuda neler hissediyorsunuz?
-Biraz önce söylediğim gibi ben ve Mantas zaten hali hazırda dünyayı turlayıp albüm kayıtları yapıyorduk o yüzden bizim için pek bir şey fark etmedi… Ancak eski parçalarımızı çalmak eğlenceliydi ve gittiğimiz yerlerde aldığımız reaksiyonlar harikaydı.
4- Avé albümü hakkında hayranlarınızdan aldığınız yorumlar nasıl?
-Jon Z albüm yapmamız gerektiğini söylediği zaman hemen reddettim. Yapım şirketi bulma, demo yayınlama, albümü yayınlama gibi konularla uğraşmak pek istemedim. Olabilecek problemleri görebiliyordum ancak hayranlarımız da sürekli albüm hakkında sorular sormaya başlayınca en nihayetinde kabul ettim de sürece başladık. Gelen reaksiyonlar benim ve Mantas’ın (ayrıca albümün yapımcısı) hayal edebileceğimizden bile öteydi. Elimizden geleni yaparak bu albümü oluşturduğumuz için bu bizi çok gururlandırdı.
5- Geçtiğimiz yıl sizi Türkiye’de İzleme şansı yakaladık. O konsere dahil neler hatırlıyorsun ve neler söylemek istersin? Sizi yeniden Türkiye’de izleyebilecek miyiz?
-İzmir’deki O KONSER Mİ?! VAY CANINA!! Aylarca süren Japonya, Singapur, Bangkok, Avustralya, Tazmanya ve Yeni Zelanda ve tüm Avrupa turumuzdan tam bir gün sonra hiç uyumadan direkt olarak Türkiye’ye geçtik.
İnsanlar inanılmaz derece sıcakkanlı, nazik ve arkadaş canlısıydı. Yemekler muazzamdı. (Favori yiyeceklerim de vardı!) Ve sonra konser!! Alan tıka basa doluydu, hayranlarımız çok gürültülü ve çılgındı!! Sonunda süremiz bitti ama devam edelim istedim. Nihayetinde polis gelip durmamızı istedi ama reddettim ve bizi durdurmaları gerektiğini söyledim!!!!! Ama sonunda elektrikleri kestiler (gülüyor) Sonra vokali seyircilere vererek In League With Satan’ın akustik versiyonunu söyledik!!! Böylece konseri bitirdik (gülüyor).
Sonra biraz tatil yapmak için Kıbrıs’a gittim ve orada bu harika deneyimi unutmamak için “IZMIR ATTACK”in logosunu dövme olarak yaptırdım.
6- Siz Black Metal adını koyan ve bu türü oluşturan ilk grupsunuz. Sizce Black Metal piyasası nasıl? Ve beğendiğiniz gruplar var mı?
Rezet, Tantra, Survive, No Raza, Ultra Violence, Power Trip, Mutoid Man ve daha fazlasını sayabilirim.
-Bence Black Metal piyasası her geçen gün güçlenip büyüyor!!! Bunu görmek çok harika. Elbette streaming sitelerinin piyasayı ele geçirmesi ile ilgili şikayetler mevcut çünkü gelir elde etmek için hala mükemmel bir yol değil ve bazı gruplar da hayranların tembellik yaparak konserlere gelmemelerinden şikayetçi. AMA bu durumlar bir grubun kayıtları durdurmasına ve yaptıkları müziğe her şeylerini koymalarını engellememeli. Hiçliğin ortasında bir yerde hafta içi konserlerinde 120 kişiye çalıyorsunuz. Ama onlar da sizin şeylerinizi satın almış kişiler ve sizi görmeyi hak ediyorlar!!! Ama öyle konserler olduğu gibi hafta sonu büyük bir şehirde 2000 kişiye de çalınabiliyor. Bunların hepsi çok değerli ve yapması önemli şeyler. Böyle düşünmeyenler saçma salak ve EGO dolu insanlardır!
7- Bildiğimiz kadarıyla Venom Inc, Avé sonrası yeni bir albüm hazırlığında. Peki albüm çalışmaları nasıl gidiyor ve yeni albüme ne zaman kavuşacağız, bizlere biraz bilgi vermek ister misin?
-EVET! Şarkı sözlerini boş vakitlerimde yazıyorum ve yazdığım zaman sözler akıyor, o yüzden %100 ilhamlı olduğumu söyleyebilirim. Mantas da ayrıca (her zaman olduğu gibi) tonlarca şey yazıyor. Hepimiz çok heyecanlıyız ve AVE’den de iyi bir albüm yapmak niyetindeyiz!!! Müzikal anlamda şimdi bile daha iyi olduğunu ve kendi heyecanımızın ilham verici olduğunu düşünüyorum.
8 -Bir diğer grubunuz M:Pire of Evil nasıl gidiyor?
-Venom Inc çok meşgul olduğundan dolayı onu beklemeye almak durumunda kaldık. Yeni albümümüz olan Unleashed’i tamamlamak üzereydi ancak hemen yayınlamak mümkün olmadı. Neredeyse tamamlanmış albümü dinlediğimde kulağıma hoş geliyor. Umarım bu yıl iki albümü de çıkartabiliriz.
İkisi birbirinden çok farklı o yüzden çıkmayacak sanma. (gülüyor)
9- Venom Inc efsane bir grup, bana göre gelmiş geçmiş en ürkütücü, en şeytani grup diyebilirim. Yıllarca bu özelliğini koruyan bir grup olarak bunu nasıl başarıyorsunuz?
-GERÇEK olmak zorundasın. Grup daha önce görünümü ürüne tercih etti. Ve olduğundan daha eksik oldu. Neysen o olmalısın. Slayer yön değiştirmedi. Metallica yön değiştirdi ama özlerine bağlı kaldılar ve iki grup da başarılı oldu. AMA asıl önemli olan yaptıkları şeye inanıyorlar. Yalnızca para için, “rock yıldızı” olmak için, bedava içki için veya gerçek bir iş yapmadan kolay yoldan para kazanmaya çalışmak için çalmaya başladığın zaman çabucak kaybedersin! Yalnızca kim olduğun konusunda gerçekçi ol, yaptığın şeye inan ve elinden gelenin en iyisini yap! Herkes yaptığın işi beğenmeyecek, bu tamamen normal, bunlara odaklanma. Senin işini beğenenler için çalıyorsun, beğenmeyenler için değil!
Müziklerimiz şeytani çünkü bu bizim derin ve karanlık tarafımız ve bu hep böyleydi. Belki sadece Mantas ve ben böyleydik ama yine de böyleydik. Propaganda insanları bir anlığına aptallaştırır ama GERÇEKLİK ömür boyu GERÇEKTİR!
10-Demolition Man, büyük bir Motörhead hayranı olarak doğal olarak sormak isterim. Lemmy hakkında neler düşünüyorsun ve Lemmy’nin müziğinizdeki etkisini öğrenmek isteriz.
-Kaybını hala hissediyorum… benim için çok ağır. Onlar, o, benim bu işe ciddi bir şekilde odaklanıp yapmam için gerçek güç ve ilham kaynağıydı. Müziğini, sesini, çalış tarzını çok seviyorum. Öldüğü gün turdaydık. Snaggletooth kolyemi taktım, mikrofonumu Lemmy’nin boyuna göre ayarladım ve sahneye çıkmadan önce bir kadeh Jack-kola içtim. Her konserde aynı şeyi yapıyorum. O hep benimle ve çıktığım her konser onun ve onun hatırası için.
11- Genel olarak senin Heavy Metal Big Four’un kimlerden oluşuyor?
-Benimki mi? (gülüyor)… Bu kişisel bir liste ama yapacak bir şey yok. Motörhead, Black Sabbath, Judas Priest ve Slayer.
12- Seninle bu röportajı yapmak büyük bir keyif ve heyecandı. Bir müzisyen olarak bana kattığınız her şey için size çok teşekkür ediyorum. Aynı zamanda Çerezzine olarak sorularımızı da yanıtladığın için de sonsuz teşekkürler. Son olarak Türkiye ve dünyadaki hayranlarınıza neler söylemek istersin?

1-Hello Demolition Man, thank you for accepting our request. Your return as Venom Inc. made us excited and we’ve been overwhelmed with your new album “Avé”. How is everything going for Venom Inc.?
A: Hello..ah THANKYOU!!!! It’s an honour to be able to do this…Thankyou so much. We are very proud of our album and to have the response it has had, very humbled and greatful.. Everything is more perfect then ever now.
2- What do think about Avé? Is it good to be back?
A: I didn’t want to do an album. My idea when I put this together was to look at the impressive catalogue of music from our histories combined and to take that to the fans as a live experience only! Myself and Mantas had been working together as M:Pire of Evil and being very successful with that. Touring the planet and controlling our releases ourselves..When I was asked to bring the original Venom drummer back for a guest appearance at one of our M:Pire shows, Mantas was very much against it but after explaining this would be a one off show, just for dedicated fans, he agreed. The old Venom drummer was easy to convince as he was working in a telephone call centre and doing nothing of any musical significance any more..so he jumped at the opportunity.
However after the festival show ( where we only performed 5 songs ) it became apparent to me that fans wanted to see us all over the world play together..so I got us shows with my agent and got us superb management in Jon & Marsha Zazula ( Megaforce, Metallica, Anthrax etc ) and Chuck Billy ( Testament ) and had Mantas redo the logo to represent us as VENOM INC ( incorporated ) IRON & Steel, but very soon everyone ( fans, agents etc ) ignored the Iron & Steel and we became known as simply Venom Inc. Which became the company Venom Inc Ltd..where I registered the logo as the company logo..to protect our investment..
World touring followed and it was amazing to be back playing the old material.
3- You’ve started to take on concerts all over the world. How is it feel to be on stage after all these years
A: As I just said, myself & Mantas were already touring the world playing and recording so it was just more of the same for us…but playing the old music was fun..and everywhere we went on the planet the reaction was fantastic.
4- Did your fans liked Avé? How are they reacting to it?
A: When Jon Z said you need to make an album I said no straight away. I wasn’t interested in all the politics that goes along with finding a label, demos, publishing, etc etc..I could see problems but in the end the fans also kept asking so eventually I agreed and we started the process..the response was beyond what myself or Mantas ( who also was producer on the album ) could have imagined..It made us so proud as we’d put all we had into it..
5- We watched you in Turkey last year. What do you remember about that concert? And can we see you again in Turkey?
A: OH MY , THAT show in Izmir, Turkey?! Wow!!! We’d just completed months on tour, Japan, Singapore, Bangkok, Australia, Tasmania and New Zealand and then a day later the whole European tour and then flew straight to Turkey to play without any sleep…
The people were incredibly warm, kind, friendly…food was outstanding ( of course, some of my favourite food! ) and then the show!! It was a packed venue and the fans were so loud and crazy!! At the end we ran over time but I said let’s keep going..and eventually the police came and said stop but I refused and said they’d have to stop us!!!! So eventually they turned the power off hahaha so I then conducted the audience in a vocal and acoustic rendition of In League With Satan!!! Hahaha and that’s how we closed the show..
I then went to Cyprus for a break where I got the promoters logo ‘IZMIR ATTACK’ tattooed on my skin so I never can forget what an incredible experience I had there.
6- You are the first Black metal band. How is Black Metal market is going right now? And do you have any favorite bands?
A: Many from Rezet, Tantra,Survive, No Raza, Ultra Violence, Power Trip, Mutoid Man and many more…
I think the scene is strong and growing stronger than ever week by week!!! It’s so great to see…There are complaints of course about album sales as steaming has taken over and still isn’t perfect for income and some complain fans are lazy about going to live shows…BUT that should never stop a band recording and putting their music out for fans or touring…so you get 120 people or less perhaps at a midweek show in winter in the middle of nowhere…but those are fans too and bought your shit and deserve to also be able to see you!!! And for every show like that, there will be a 2000 or more people show at the weekend in a larger city..it is ALL valuable and important to do…People who don’t think so, are full of shit and too much EGO!
7- As far as we know you are currently working on a new album. Can you tell us anything about it?
A: YES! Well I’m writing in my gaps and lyrics are pouring out, I guess I’m %100 inspired, Mantas also ( as he always is ) is writing tonnes of stuff so we are all very excited and intend to make the new album better than AVE!!! We think it is sounding better already and so our own excitement is inspirational
8-How is your other group M-Pire of Evil going?
A: Ah well of course that’s had to be paused as Venom Inc is so busy but we were about to complete the next M:Pire of Evil album – Unleashed so with time in our side we would like t complete that this year as 2018 just wasn’t possible and have that released ASAP as it was a great piece of music we thought…listening back to what we had almost ready it still sounds great to me..so let’s hope we can do both albums and get both out this year..
They will be quite different pieces to each other so don’t think they won’t lol
9- Venom Inc. is a legendary band. It is the most eerie and the most devilish band ever in my opinion. How can you still stay like that?
A: You have to be REAL..the band before used image over product in the end..and it became less then it was…you must be true to what you are..Slayer never veered..Metallica did but still kept connected so both can succeed BUT they all believe in what they do..once you’re just doing it for the money or to be a ‘rock star’ or for free booze or because it’s easy money with no real work??? You will end it quickly! Just be true to who you are, believe in what you do and give your very best! Not all will like you or it but that is fine, it’s life so don’t focus on that you’re doing it for those that want it not those that don’t!
We are devilish in our music because that’s our deeper darker side and was always that way…REALITY..of myself and Mantas only perhaps but REALITY never the less…Propaganda fools people for a moment…but REALITY is REAL for a lifetime!
10- Demolition Man, I wanna ask this as a big Motörhead fan. What do you think about Lemmy and how Lemmy affected your music?
A: I feel the loss so greatly still…it’s heavy on my heart. They, he, was the real force and inspiration that got me focused and wanting to do this seriously…the music the voice the playing style I just love…the day he passed we were on tour..I put on my snaggletooth necklace, put my mic stand up to a Lemmy height and took a Jack and coke before I went onstage.. Every show since I do the same…he is forever with me and every show I do is for him and his memory..
11- Can you tell us your Heavy Metal Big Four?
A: Mine? Oh hahaha…This is personally but ok well…Motörhead-Black Sabbath-Judas Priest-Slayer
12- It was a great honor to make this interview with you. As a musician I thank you for everything you’ve taught me. And also thank you for answering our questions. Lastly, what do you wanna say to your fans in Turkey?
A: Thankyou so much for your kind words.. And this was great fun!
